Bill Simmons brings twenty-five years of culinary experience to your
event. He began as a cook in the United States Navy, serving from one
person to 4,000. After the military he took a five year break from the
kitchen, and then resurfaced at Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, Washington.
After a year of honing his culinary skills, he was named chef. Shortly
there after he was offered a job in Hawaii working on a cruise liner
and spent the next few years there getting his sea-legs back and working
on improving his knowledge of the kitchen (galley). After a stint as
sous chef, American Hawaii Cruises sent him to the Harry Lundberg School
of Seamanship in Maryland where he studied culinary arts. After joining
the American Culinary Federation he returned to work at sea. From freighter
to fishing boat, he worked his way around the world, cooking in such
places as Africa,Sri Lanka, England, and Alaska. After getting married
in 1989 he moved back to the Methow Valley and took a job at Sun Mountain
Lodge. He left there to take a chef's job at another local restaurant
and settled in for over 4 years. There were a few other local restaurants
that enjoyed his culinary skills until he founded Rent-A-Chef in 1996.
